Founder Biography

Shelbi Augustus is the founder and creative vision behind Ijeoma Jewelry, a modern luxury house created to honor women in motion. Rooted in both her Nigerian heritage through her father and her African American ancestry through her mother, Shelbi’s identity is shaped by stories of resilience, artistry, and reinvention. Ijeoma is her tribute to that lineage and her offering to the women who come after her.

Raised between Miami’s vibrant cultural landscape and the evolving creative energy of Los Angeles, Shelbi spent more than a decade working as a national strategist. In these roles, she saw the strength women carry every day, often without the softness, affirmation, or adornment they deserve. She realized that traditional luxury rarely reflected these women or the leadership they embody. This realization inspired her to create a house that would.

Ijeoma means “safe journey” in Igbo, and the name reflects Shelbi’s belief that jewelry should be meaningful and personal. Each piece in her collection is designed with intention. Clean architectural lines meet subtle organic movement to represent the quiet power and evolution that shape a woman’s life.

Shelbi leads Ijeoma with a commitment to craftsmanship, ethical production, and intimate luxury. She views jewelry as a companion that moves with each wearer through transitions, reinvention, and moments of self-definition. Her hope is that every Ijeoma piece becomes an heirloom of identity and strength.

Through Ijeoma Jewelry, Shelbi invites women to adorn themselves with intention, to walk boldly in their softness, and to honor the journey that brought them here.
